Why Apple Is Calling The Next iPhone The iPhone 5 [Opinion]

Apple’s invite pretty much confirms the next iPhone will be called the iPhone 5.

We thought we’d had it all figured out.

When Apple bucked the trend of numerically naming the iPad by calling the Retina iPad the “new iPad” instead of the iPad 3, we thought it was a sure thing that they’d do the same thing for the next iPhone. The next iPhone, then, would be “the new iPhone” or  [Read More…]

Go Go Gadget Gloves! Bluetooth Handset Lets Your Fingers Do The Talking

Daniel hangs ten at IFA.

If you’d shown me the Hi-Call a few years ago I would have ridiculed it and moved on, probably forgetting that this stupid Bluetooth glove even existed. Now, though, in a world infected with “sanitation engineers” so in-demand that they have Bluetooth headsets wedged permanently into their ears, and idiots wander the streets holding their in-line mics up to their mouths as they speak, the Hi-Call  [Read More…]

Rovios Slingshot-Free Bad Piggies Set To Launch For Android And iOS On September 27

It’s time to see what it’s like to live in the shoes cloven hooves of the egg stealing piggies responsible for making birds quite angry. Millions of adorable green swine have been mercilessly slaughtered for simply trying to feed their families. They’ve tried protecting themselves with hardhats, makeshift houses, and have even gone as far as to leave their gravity loving homes in favor of the cold darkness of space. No matter  [Read More…]

Set Location Based Reminders in OS X Mountain Lion

Set Location Based reminders in Mac OS X

Want to be notified of a reminder when you arrive at a specific place? Or maybe reminded to do something when you leave a location? You can do both of these from OS X Mountain Lion onward with the Reminders app, much like you can in the iOS world. Because the reminders sync through iCloud, you’ll be alerted on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or  [Read More…]

Walkmanesque iPhone Accessory Converts Old Tapes To MP3s

I’d actually buy one of these to use as a retro iPhone case.

Do you still own a collection of music stored on cassette tapes? Then I have some advice: STOP LIVING IN THE PAST! Those things’ll kill you eventually. If the wow and flutter doesn’t get you, or the ridiculous rewind times don’t drive you crazy, then the magnetic tape will probably spool out at nights and strangle you in your  [Read More…]

iPhone 5 is Coming: Apple Announces September 12 Event

It’s now official; Apple is holding an event on September 12 in San Francisco to launch the next iPhone. Select press members were sent an invitation to the Yerba Buena Center this morning with the cryptic but obvious message of “It’s almost here.”

Interestingly, that same invite graphic from Apple shows the number “12″ reflecting the number “5″, strongly suggesting that Apple will indeed reference the new device as the “iPhone 5″.

Study Shows Students Are Ditching Their PCs For iPads This Year

Replacing your PC with an iPad for school makes sense for a lot of reasons, and it will save you money on textbooks over the longrun.

Even though PC manufacturers like Dell refuse to believe the Post-PC Revolution is already here, and that people want tablets more than desktops, evidence is already showing that students and schools are buying iPads instead of PCs.

Needham & Company released a note to investors today  [Read More…]

New Bluetooth Withings Scale Can Be Controlled Entirely By Your iPhone

No computer required.

I bet you never thought you’d feel early-adopter’s remorse for a bathroom scale, right? Well, if you bought the Withings Wi-Fi-connected scale to wirelessly share your weight and BMI with the world (or just with your own suite of fitness apps) then prepare to get stressed out, and maybe to comfort yourself with a big slice of rich, delicious chocolate cake: The Withings WS30 is here.

The main  [Read More…]

Facebook Integration For iOS 6 Might Flood Your Contacts With Worthless Email Addresses

Facebook integration for iOS 6 will be launching in a few weeks along side the iPhone 5, which is pretty cool because now you’ll be able to share photos, update your status, or even like songs without having to open up the crappy Facebook app.

The only drawback for iOS 6′s Facebook integration is that Facebook is using it to push their “@facebook.com” email addresses to everyone. What it means is that  [Read More…]

Carriers Start Getting The Next iPhones Nano-SIMs Ahead Of Rumored September 21st Launch

There’s no mention of the next iPhone in the note, but German carrier T-Mobile has been sending out these tiny nanoSIMs for “the latest generation of smartphones” launching shortly. And since the next iPhone, which many believe will launch on September 21st, is widely thought to be the first smartphone to boast the new nanoSIM standard, it’s pretty obvious T-Mobile’s trying to put this SIM in place for the iPhone 5.

Bet  [Read More…]
