Dish Network Looks To Acquire Sprint For $25.5 Billion

Satellite TV provider Dish Network is looking to derail Sprint’s deal with SoftBank and acquire the carrier with a $ 25.5 billion bid. Dish has offered $ 17.3bn in cash and $ 8.2bn in stock for 100% of Sprint shares, and the company argues that the deal represents a 13% premium over SoftBanks “complicated” bid to acquire 70% for $ 20.1 billion.

AT&T Is Paying Verizon $1.9 Billion To Acquire More 700 MHz Spectrum

We rarely think of frequency spectrums to be a finite resources, but some of the wireless carriers in the U.S. are already bumping into their limits. Spectrum issues can lead to a network slowdown, like the one we saw last summer, and the only way to get more is to buy it.

Sprint Announces It Will Acquire 100% Stake In Clearwire For $2.2 Billion

Sprint has announced today that it is set to acquire 100% ownership of Clearwire in a deal worth $ 2.97 per share — or roughly $ 2.2 billion. The carrier says it plans to utilize Clearwire’s 2.5 GHz spectrum, which will be migrated to 4G LTE standards, to achieve “operational efficiencies and improved service for customers.”

SoftBank Confirms It Will Acquire 70% Of Sprint For $20.1 Billion

SoftBank will combine with Sprint to become one of the world’s largest carriers.

SoftBank, Japan’s third-largest carrier, has this morning announced that it will acquire Sprint in a deal worth $ 20.1 billion. The company will purchase $ 8 billion in newly-issues shares from Sprint, in addition to $ 12.1 billion in existing shares — giving it a 70% stake overall.

Rumor: Apple to Acquire Flash Memory Firm for Half Billion

According to the latest industry chatter, Apple is on the verge of coughing up hundreds of millions of dollars to buy Anobit, a flash memory company based in Israel.

The rumor, which comes directly from Middle Eastern news sources, indicates that Apple does, indeed, have designs on the Israeli outfit that specializes in flash storage. The firm, which presently has some 200 employees, could fetch as much as a half-billion dollars from Apple.

AT&T to Acquire T-Mobile and Become the Largest US Wireless Provider
