Apple looks to be building another retail store in Beijing, which could open its doors in time for the launch of new iPhones and iPads this fall. Construction has begun on a building that bears a strong resemblance to a typical Apple retail outlet in Beijing’s China Central Place Shopping Center.

The store was first spotted by the Beijing Business Daily, which describes it as a two-story building that occupies around 500 square meters. The  [Read More...]

Samsung-Galaxy-S41

The Galaxy S4 has been cleared for government use by the U.S. Department of Defense, with Samsung’s new Knox security software deemed safe for military use. It’s the first Android-powered smartphone to ever win DoD approval, and it gets it ahead of Apple’s iPhone.

Reports that circulated earlier this week claimed the Galaxy S4 had been sent for DoD approval, but it wasn’t expected to get the thumbs-up until later this month. The news  [Read More...]

T-Mobile's new mantra.

T-Mobile’s new mantra.

We’ve known that T-Mobile was doing away with two-year phone contracts for quite some time, but exact details haven’t been revealed until today. Unlike the other big U.S. carriers (AT&T, Verizon and Sprint), T-Mobile isn’t doing subsidized, two-year contracts for smartphones anymore. Instead, you pay as you go—and the monthly rates look very good.

T-Mobile is holding a big press event in two days to officially take  [Read More...]

Rovio has taken some time away from Angry Birds and Bad Piggies to focus on its next project, the official game for the upcoming DreamWorks movie The Croods. Believe it or not, it’s not a physics-based puzzle game, and Rovio has released the game’s first trailer to prove it.

The Croods appears to be more of a building a management simulator, kind of like FarmVille and games of that ilk — only it’s set in the Stone Age, like the movie.

No one tell former Vice President Al Gore that it’s a bad time to buy AAPL. He just exercised a big chunk of his Apple stock options, walking off with $ 29 million worth of shares at a steep discount.

According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Al Gore exercised options to purchase $ 59,000 shares of AAPL for just pennies on the dollar.

Right now, at APPL’s  [Read More...]

If you’ve spent some time with last week’s app tip, Glympse, you’ll know it’s pretty handy to send your location info along to friends, family, or co-workers. One feature that is missing from Glympse, however, is an automatic message about when you’ll be there.

Twist, another iOS app that helps you keep folks you’re meeting up with aware of where you are, has just that — an automatic ETA message.

When you  [Read More...]

I am so excited for this.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is making its way to Android and iOS on December 6, and I couldn’t be more excited; it’s my favorite title in the series, and I’m looking forward to playing through it again.
