The New iPad Already Accounts for Over Six Percent of iPad Traffic

Apple’s new iPad has been available for a week now, and already the tablet accounts for 1 and 15 (6.6%) of all iPads. Chitka announced today that data culled from their ad-serving network over the past 24 hours shows the new iPad generates 6.6% of all iPad traffic going through the company’s servers. Obviously the iPad and iPad 2 were responsible for the remaining traffic… As with any new product release the new iPad’s share  [Read More…]

How Apple Is Already Creating Demand for Giant Desktop iPads

WIMP computing was invented during the Nixon Administration. In 1973, Xerox PARC developed the Alto computer, the first to use all the WIMP elements of windows, icons, menus and a pointing device, also known as a mouse. And it’s in this nearly 40-year-old paradigm that we find ourselves trapped by a quirk of human nature: We’re creatures of habit. We don’t like to change the way we do things. And so here  [Read More…]

Jailbroken iPad 3 The new iPad 3 is barely getting into peoples hands but has already been jailbroken by renowned hacker @MuscleNerd (BTW, you can follow us on Twitter too). At this point, it’s more a proof of concept and MuscleNerd cautions it’s “Just a first step, still lots of work to do!” There is no estimate on when the iPad 3 jailbreak will be publicly available, though typically things move  [Read More…]

85 Million Users Already Populate Apple’s iCloud

While Apple?s earnings conference call revealed the company’s record-setting earnings during the fourth quarter, it also revealed a healthy iCloud membership. Apple?s iCloud service has amassed 85 million members since its fall release. Apple?s iCloud sign-ups have actually outpaced the sale of all Apple products combined. While there have been a massive number of users to sign up, this can be attributed to iCloud?s cheap price of admission (free). Still, the explosive initial growth and potential  [Read More…]

Global Equities Research (GER) came up with the 350,000 textbooks sold using the companies proprietary tracking software as Apple tends not to release sales figures outside of official announcements and earnings reports. GER claims 90,000 users downloaded Apple’s iBook Author textbook creation tool during the same period. While the  [Read More…]

Chinese Case Makers Are Already Selling Thicker “iPad 2S” Cases

Aside from last year’s predictions for an all-new iPhone 5, case manufacturers have traditionally been a good source of information for forthcoming Apple devices. Take the iPad 2, for example. We had a good idea what the device would look like before it launched thanks to cases produced by several Chinese manufacturers. It’s no surprise to us, then, that manufacturers are already building cases for the third-generation iPad, but what do they  [Read More…]
