Apple Begins Production Of 13-Inch Retina MacBook Pro Displays [Report]

This could be getting a little brother before the year’s out.

Apple has now caught up with demand of its 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro, with shipping estimates dropping to just 2-4 business days this morning. But if you’re holding out for the 13-inch model, your wait could soon be coming to an end. According to one analyst, 13-inch 2560 x 1600 Retina displays have now entered production ready for an October launch.

Korean Times Reporting Apple Set to Purchase 7.85″ Displays From Samsung

The new iPad isn’t even out yet and rumors regarding a 7.85” model iPad are already flaring back up. The Korean Times published claims by an unnamed Samsung source that Apple is expected to purchase $11 billion in components from Samsung by the end of 2012. This is up from the $9.7 billion outlined in the current contract between the two companies. The source claims a portion of that $11 billion is going toward 7.85”  [Read More…]

China Times Claims Apple Ordered 65 Million iPad 3 Retina Displays

The China Times took its turn today at the helm of the the iPad 3 rumor-mill with a report claiming Apple ordered 65 million retina displays for the iPad 3. The 65 million 264PPI Retina display order would be split between LG and Samsung. Both companies have reportedly started producing the displays. Display orders for the iPad 2 totaled 40 million. Apple Could Use IGZO Displays To Allow For A Thinner iPad 3 [Rumor]

While some reports have claimed that Apple’s iPad 3 will be thicker than its current-generation tablet so that the company can make room for a stunning Retina display, it seems that may not be the case.
