The RHA MA750i Might Be The Last Best Earphones You’ll Ever Need [Review]

MA750i by RHA Category: canalphones Price: $ 130 There aren’t many in-ear monitors made of steel. Aluminum? Yes. Plastic? Wads. But steel-bodied IEMs — now that’s a rare find. There’s good reason for this: Though the material is solid, hard-wearing and,…Read more ›    [Read More…]

Sennheiser Shrinks Its Exalted Momentum Earphones, Drops Price, Dresses Them Up in Pretty Pastels

sennheiser-momentum-onear-1  Sennheiser must have thought what I thought: That their amazing-sounding Momentum headphones perhaps appeared a tad too Teutonically severe (in the case of the red-and-black version) or stuffy (in the case of the brown version) to appeal to everyone (read: women). So the Germanic, family-run company gave the Momentum a big fashion makeover, dressing […]

Kordl Makes Straightening Out Your Tangled Earphones Easy [Review]

Kordl makes detangling balled-up headphones a cinch.

My pre gym ritual, aside from beating my chest with my bare fists and grunting, always seems to include 2-3 minutes of loathsome headphone detangling. How those confounded white wires always weave themselves into a tangled ball, I do not know, but now there might be hope.

Audiofly Goes All-In With Handful of New High-End Earphones [CES 2013]

The new Audiofly AF160. Somebody spent a looooong time setting this photo up.

Australian earphone-maker Audiofly was just a fledgling outfit with scarcely a handful of models and a shaky toehold in the earphone market when I first encountered a year ago at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. After I had a chance to spend some quality time with what was then the company’s flagship set, the fantastic AF78s, I was pretty certain that,  [Read More…]

Logitech UE 900 Earphones: The Next Generation From A Legendary Name Deserves High Praise, But Also Some Ridicule [Review]

When one company swallows another, it’s common for a slow shift in rebranding and design to occur as the two entities thrash out their roles and relationship. The latest shift in the Logitech-Ultimate Ears story — Logitech purchased UE in 2008 — occured a month or so ago, when Ultimate Ears was rebranded as Logitech UE and launched a suite of high-end, blue-tinged soundware, with a product selection that reached far  [Read More…]

These Phiaton Moderna Earphones Will Make Your iPhone 5 Look Even Sexier [Review]

Phiaton moderna ms 200 1

Phiaton’s new Moderna MS 200 earphones ($ 149) sound good and have great sound isolation, sure, but what’s more important is how good they look plugged in to your new iPhone 5.

The Good

The MS 200′s look good, like, Michael-Jackson-in-the-80s-with-his-glove-and-red-leather-jacket good. I love the red tangle-free cord (which does its job well) and matching red silicon ear tips. Even the carbon fiber accents are a nice touch. Sure,  [Read More…]

Audioflys AF78 Earphones Hold Their Own in the Fight for Top Sonic Honors [Review]

We bumped into neophyte Australian headphones-maker Audiofly in January, during a press-only event at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, and gave two models in the four-model lineup a whirl. Their mid-level AF45 set sounded great for $ 50; but the next one I tried the top-of-the-line AF78($ 200) left me slack-jawed with disbelief; itssound knocked my socks off, even amid the cacophony of noisy journalists.

What makes the AF78  [Read More…]
