Every iPhone Prototype Apple Ever Made Before They Released The First iPhone [Gallery]

The Samsung vs. Apple legal brouhaha has been a pretty tedious story to cover up until now, but over the last week, those of who with a professional interest in paying attention to the bickering were finally rewarded when Apple started coughing up images of their early iPhone prototypes in the court filings.

On Saturday, though, in preparation for the start of today’s trial, Apple released a new filing with dozens of sketches, prototypes  [Read More…]

Apple Turns Over Its Entire Inventory Every 5 Days

It’s unlikely any of those iPads will sit on the shelf for a more than five days.

Apple’s ability to turn over its inventory incredibly quickly is seen as one of the Cupertino company’s greatest strengths. But just how quickly does it sell its products? According to Gartner’s Supply Chain Top 25 league table, Apple clears its entire inventory every 4.9 days. That’s faster than Amazon, Coca-Cola, Dell, and Samsung.  [Read More…]

Earlier this year Apple announced iTunes U, making it clear that Apple intends to make the iPad ubiquitous in academia. The iPad is truly coming into its own as a legitimate alternative to the PC. For students, this means that the iPad is quickly becoming a powerful learning tool, which is good for a lot more than reading. I sat down with a Boston-based  [Read More…]

Why You Will Never Need To Upgrade To A New iPad Every Year

The most common question I heard after the new iPad launch wasn’t about the retina display, or how I liked the camera. People didn’t ask which games were the best, or how fast it was. The number one thing people wanted to know was whether they should upgrade their iPad 2 to the new iPad. The answer is simple: No, you don’t need the new iPad if you have an  [Read More…]

Photoshop Touch is probably all the Photoshop most people need

I have been using Photoshop Touch almost obsessively for the past week, despite being holed up in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for much of that time. At first look, I thought it was yet another photo-editing app, and in many ways it is. But as I dig in more and more, its clear that — while this is  [Read More…]

Every Apple Product Ever Designed in 30 Seconds, Maybe

Well this is an awesome video. Rob Beschizza at Boing Boing culled together every Apple Design ever and crammed it into a 30-second video. I don’t think every Apple Design ever is in the video and Beschizza acknowledges as much, but it’s still a lightining-quick look at 30+ years of Apple products. I had no idea Apple produced so many different external floppy-disc drives. Ahhh floppy-discs, how I miss thee. Beschizza even added a bonus video below of every NeXT  [Read More…]

Here’s another perspective on today’s numbers that should knock your socks off: Apple’s iPhone sales surpass the world’s birth rate. Not only has Apple become the top smartphone manufacturer in the world, but there are now more iPhones sold than babies born each day. The iPhone sold 37.04 million units during the first fiscal quarter of 2012. Since one quarter is exactly 98 days, that equals 377,900 iPhone sold per day.  [Read More…]

Apple Could Allow Users To Upgrade The Rumored iTV Every Year Using A-Series Modules [CES 2012]

Samsung’s usually accused of copying Apple, but their next-gen Smart TVs can be upgraded over time with faster processors and graphics, a strategy Apple might also employ.

LAS VEGAS, CES 2012 – Like many TV makers at CES, Apple’s rumored entry into the HDTV market was the specter in the room at Samsung’s Monday afternoon press conference. However, unlike other  [Read More…]

Apple To Possibly Collect $10 For Every Android Device Sold

According to Kevin Rivette, a managing partner at intellectual property firm 3LP Advisors LLC, Apple can possibly collect up to $10 in royalties for every Android device sold, a number which is twice the $5 per unit Microsoft is believed to be collecting for each HTC Android device sold. Rivette made the statement in an interview with Bloomberg recently where he shared his expert opinion. Jobs previously indicated before he passed away that he had no interest  [Read More…]
