Phantom Tax Keeps Apple’s Financial Earnings Results From Being Much Higher [Report]

Scads of overseas cash. That’s a technical term.

We reported a few weeks ago that Apple had parked scads of cash overseas, some $ 74 billion in cash. Looking forward to tomorrow’s earnings report, however, it can be argued that their financial numbers could be much higher if the cash, mainly parked overseas due to potential tax liabilities in the US, were returned to US Apple coffers.

Chinese Higher Court Hears Apple’s iPad Trademark Appeal

Apple continued its battle against Proview this morning in the Higher People’s Court of Guangzhou. The Higher Court is hearing Apple’s appeal to a lower courts decision that awarded Proview rights to the iPad moniker and a sales ban on the iPad in 30 Chinese cities. New Report Indicates Higher Specs for All New MacBook Air Models

New reports indicate that new MacBook Air models will ship next week and that they will include either 128GB or 256GB SSD’s. It would appear that Apple is doing away with the meager 64GB MacBook Air in favor larger capacity drives. This is good news, as it is notoriously difficult to upgrade SSD’s on current MacBook Air models. iPad 2 Demand Pushes 2011 IDC Tablet Shipping Estimates Even Higher

With the iPad 2 serving as the primary underlying basis for the hike, the International Data Corporation (IDC) has elevated its global tablet shipment outlook (from 50.4 units to 53.5 million units) even though 1st quarter shipments were less than record-breaking. The prominent research firm says worldwide media tablet shipments into sales channels fell by 28% on a sequential basis in the first calendar quarter of 2011 to 7.2 million units worldwide. iPad 2 VS iPad 1: Higher RAM Improves Web Browsing Experience

iPad 2 It was great to find out from the iPad 2 teardown that it comes with 512 MB RAM compared to only 256 MB in iPad 1.
