12 things we hope get funded on Kickstarter

As warmer weather hits even San Francisco, we’re pooling our beer money for a robot bartender. And some wasabi-flavored toothpicks. Our ever-expanding crew could use some of these modular Modos bookshelves and stools, too. There are so many things on… Read more ›

We’re still months away from the big reveal of the iPhone 5s, which means concept designers still have plenty of time to toss around fanciful dreams of what Apple might do for the redesign of the iPhone. Teaming up with… Read more ›

While Apple’s iLife and iWork software suites are considerably cheaper than competing products from rival companies, there’s still a bunch of people who would rather download them illegally than have to fork out the $ 20 fee for each app. And…

Apple’s new 21.5-inch iMacs are ridiculously thin and gorgeous. They’re also one of least upgradeable/repairable desktop  computers on the market. It’s possible to swap out the RAM on the new 21.5-inch iMacs, but trying to get an aftermarket SSD into the 21.5-inch iMac might be an impossible task.

Teardowns of the new 21.5-inch iMac revealed that in order to get to the hard drive users will have to separate the display from the main  [Read More…]

99.95% of the time I pray that my Mac will never get a bug, but now part of me holds on to a sliver of hope that I will one day see an OS X bug that is as beautiful as this. A very small number of Mac users have reported that Launchpad has thrown out a new bug that crystalizes all of the icons on the Launchpad screen.

A normal iPhone 5 doesn’t look like that…

When Apple released the iPhone 5 three months ago, jailbreak hackers were sent back to the grindstone. Like a new version of iOS, new Apple hardware almost always kills the current jailbreak. It’s a ruthless game of cat and mouse.

How does the display of the iPad mini stack up against the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD  [Read More…]

In a not-so surprise move today, Apple filed a proposal with the US District Court that is handling Monday’s trial between it and rival Samsung over possible patent infringements. The surprise move today is the fact that Samsung agrees with Apple.

Both companies have to submit documents as exhibits in the wide-ranging trial, scheduled for Monday, and each company would like to keep it’s sensitive business data  [Read More…]

Is This The iPhone 5?s Home Button? We Hope Not!

This component, currently for sale through a Chinese parts store, is purportedly the flex cable for the iPhone 5?s home button. But we’re hoping that’s complete rubbish. Why? Because if this really is the iPhone 5?s home button, it seems to rule out that capacitive touch home button that we’ve all been dreaming about. Although slightly different, this component isn’t too dissimilar to that currently featured in the iPhone 4. That big  [Read More…]

We’ve gotten word from a previously reliable source that Apple is discontinuing the Magic Mouse in favor of the Magic Trackpad. Our retail source has informed us that Magic Mouse inventory is not being replenished for Apple stores, and that Apple is finally phasing out the Magic Mouse. In OS X Lion, Apple focused heavily on gestures. To take full advantage of Lion’s speed and efficiency, a trackpad must be used that  [Read More…]
