iOS Devices Have Been Dominating Mobile Web Traffic For The Past 6 Months [Report]

Android technically sells more smartphones than Apple, but iOS devices continue to dominate mobile web traffic. Chitika Insights has been tracking web traffic on the top mobile platforms, and iOS commands 67% of usage and Android only 33%.

Since May, iOS has seen 2% traffic growth while Android has seen a 2% decrease. Both parties have put out a volley of new devices in recent months, yet the percentages have largely stayed the  [Read More…]

Three Months After Firing Much of Its Staff, Hipstamatic Releases Gangster-Themed FreePak

The jury’s still out on what effect the firing in August of some key players at Hipstamatic will have on the app itself — but the toy-camera simulator is still pumping out the FreePaks, those cute virtual lens-and-film pairings that often tie in with some pop-culture reference. This time it’s based off the star-stuffed Gangster Squad flick, set to be released early next year. Oh, and they’re giving away a Canon 5D  [Read More…]

GREE Kills OpenFeint, Developers Given Just Under One Month’s Notice [Report]

So long, Open Feint, we hardly knew ye.

Launched in February of 2009, OpenFeint was the first useful leader board and multiplayer matching service for iOS games. It was originally developed by Jason Citron’s Aurora Feint development team, and went on to become an SDK that iOS, and later Android, developers could include in their mobile games without having to build their own multiplayer, leader board, or achievement system.

In 2011, social gaming company GREE purchased OpenFeint for  [Read More…]

An iPhone Lover’s Three Months Exile With Android

You never meant for this to happen. In your rush to dive into the ocean, you forgot to take your iPhone out of your pocket, and didn’t realize it till you came out of the water. It’s a disaster. You leave your drowned iPhone 4S in a bag of rice for three days, praying to God, Allah, Jehovah, Moses, Shiva, and Oprah Winfrey that some magical power will make it work  [Read More…]

Android Devices Officially Infringe 17 Apple And Microsoft Patents, Six In The Last Three Months

Last quarter, courts around the world had filed judgements that showed Android infringing 11 mostly Apple patents, with a couple of Microsoft patents thrown in for good measure. Four Months Of Coffee Samples For $30 [Deal Ending]

Mmm coffee. I start my day with a triple Americano that I make at home (Nespresso FTW), but weekends I often make a pot of coffee. Maybe a nice French press pot or the classic auto-drip. There is one thing for sure, you can’t make a good pot of coffee if the coffee you buy is crap.

We all have our favorite coffees we buy as a treat to ourselves, how about  [Read More…]

Apple May Have To Cut E-book Prices Within Three Months

These might get a bit cheaper in the months to come – a good thing for consumers.

Cheaper e-books would be great, right? According to industry executives, that may just happen in the next one to three months after a federal judge entered an approval of an antitrust settlement between several e-book publishers and the Justice Department itself.

In the final settlement today, publishers Lagardere, Hachette Book Group, Simon & Schuster, and  [Read More…]

Etchings Is This Months Best iPhone Photography App So Far

My scary pixel avatar, etched.

Etchings is an iPhone photography app which takes your pictures and turns them into very realistic etchings. Or fake etchings, I guess. Whatever you call them, if you pick the right source pic then you’ll end up with something that looks as if you lacquered your own metal plate, etched it, dropped it into an acid bath, washed and dried it, inked it up and ran  [Read More…]

I swear my Contacts are a mess. Its all because of the time I was doing outside sales (this was like 8 years ago now) and I imported the entire prospect database into my address book. Not only do I have addresses that I dont need, I have lots of outdated addresses that are  [Read More…]
