If you have a mid-2012 MacBook Air, Apple has released a small firmware update that addresses “a storage firmware issue that, in rare cases, may cause a system to fail to recover from crash.”

Google unleashed an insane amount of news during its marathon keynote at the I/O developer conference today in California. A new music subscription service, Google Maps update, and messaging platform were just a few of the announcements.

Apple has released a minor update for iPhone 5 users, versioned as iOS 6.1.4 with a build ID of 10B350. The brief release notes suggest the only change is an “Updated audio profile for speakerphone”, though in our own before and after testing we were not able to determine any obvious differences in speakerphone output sound or quality upon installing the update.

Barely a week has passed and Apple already has a new update for the OS X 10.8.4 beta. Apple just released build 12E30 of OS X 10.8.4 to developers.
The seedâ€™s release notes donâ€™t contain anything significant, butÂ devsÂ will surely find new stuff once they get to digging through the OS. Apple does note for developers to focus on Graphics, Drivers, Safari, and WiFi.

Apple has released iOS 6.1.3, a relatively minor software update that includes a patch for the bug that allowed someone to bypass the lock screen and access the Phone app, and also brings some improvements to Maps in Japan. Additionally, the update patches the evasi0n jailbreak, thereby preventing devices from being jailbroken by that tool in the future. There are no known feature additions or changes.

Another Java security update has been issued to Mac OS X users to address a new vulnerability discovered with the browser plugin. Apple has released the second developer beta of iOS 6.1.3, a minor point release to the mobile software suite that is said to include several bug fixes.

iOS 6.1.2 has been released by Apple. The minor update to iOS includes a resolution for a battery drain bug that impacted users of Exchange servers which also caused excessive data usage, and presumably also fixes the passcode bypass bug that exists in prior iOS 6 versions, though that has yet to be confirmed. iOS 6.1.1 has been released for iPhone 4S users only. The update is small but important, and is thought to resolve some ongoing network issues that the iOS 6.1 update brought for certain iPhone 4S devices on certain cell carriers, particularly in Europe. The hacker team known as evad3rs have pushed an update to the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak tool called evasi0n. The updated tool is now version 1.2. The evad3rs have also updated the evasi0n untethered 6.0-6.1 package in Cydia, which is now version 0.3-1.
