Like an odd cross between Sudoku and a collectible card game, Star Trek Rivals, from Elephant Mouse Games, is out for iOS on the App Store to capture your attention today, on the release date of Star Trek: Into Darkness (have you gotten your tickets, yet?).

The game is free, has all your Star Trek reboot characters in it, and is pretty simple to learn, but hard to master. It plays asynchronously,  [Read More...]

Guys, where did *you* get your tickets?

Guys, where did *you* get your tickets?

Seriously, have you gotten your tickets, yet? Star Trek: Into Darkness is coming this weekend, and it looks like the entire US is heading tot he theater to see it, en masse.

Fandango is having a good run of it, claiming that 71 percent of the pre-release ticket sales are coming through it’s very convenient service, with 32 percent of  [Read More...]

This great new Audi commercial featuring two generations of Spocks — Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto — smack talking, swearing, racing and singing “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” is awesome for a lot of ways, but for iPad enthusiasts, the cream on top is at the very beginning, when Old Spock and New Spock play 3D Chess against each other on their iPads.

Sadly, the app itself doesn’t actually seem to exist. How have you overlooked doing a proper 3D  [Read More...]

Rebel forces about to be crushed under the hoof (?) of an Imperial AT-AT.

Today is Star Wars day (for the less nerdy, here’s the punchline: “May the Fourth be with you.” Now look at the date.)

In celebration, Aspyr has drastically cut prices on all five of their ported Star Wars titles — both at the Mac App Store and at Aspyr’s own GameAgent site (though they’re slightly more expensive at  [Read More...]

Mailbox Unread Star

Mailbox for iPhone lets you send each email to a list, set it to snooze for a certain number of hours or days, or even just archive the email if you want.

In addition, you can mark emails as read or unread, and star them, just like in Gmail itself. THis gives you yet another way to sort and classify emails on the go, which also transfers easily to the  [Read More...]

Apple Sued By Star Wars Soundmaker, No One Knows Why

thx-logo-hero

Apple has been sued by THX, the company founded by Star Wars producer George Lucas, in a patent case filed in a federal court in Northern California. The case was part of a list of new filings in the court clerk’s office, Bloomberg reports.

No further details about the case, including a copy of the complaint, are available at this point, and Steve Dowling, a spokesman for Apple, hasn’t responded to a request for comment. Jen  [Read More...]

I shall apologize now for bringing you yet another crowd-funded gadget today, but this is something special. I won’t dilly-dally here: It’s a frikkin’ Star Trek button for talking to Siri.

OK, so it’s not really anything like the Starfleet badge, but it is a button that you can wear on your shirt (no! not the red one!) and touch to communicate with your iPhone (or your Android phone, should you happen to  [Read More...]

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was created (OK, so it wasn’t that far away, but Wisconsin, apparently home at the time of developer Raven Software, is an alien world). But now this classic first-person shooter available at the Mac App Store — so you can experience how much fun your PC friends were having a decade ago.

Yes, it’s an old game  [Read More...]
