Google’s YouTube apps for Android and iOS have helped the company triple advertising sales on mobile in the past six months, the company has said. Mobile ads now contribute an estimated $ 350 million to YouTube’s revenue, with around a quarter of the site’s 1 billion users accessing videos on smartphones and tablets.

Lucy Watson, vice president of sales at YouTube, said the growth in mobile ad sales has spurred an increase  [Read More...]

Music is what started it all for the modern Apple with the iPod back in 2001.

Today, the consumer electronics giant released a new video, posted on YouTube, entitled ‘Music Every Day.”

In it, beautiful piano music soars over images of people listening to music while exercising, traveling, dancing, connecting, sharing, going to school, and studying. People jump rope, tap their feet, sing quietly to themselves on the commuter train, or dance in their own backyards. iPhones and their  [Read More...]

Despite being a bitter rival of Apple, Google still makes some of the best iOS apps on the planet. One of my biggest gripes against Google’s apps though has been if you click a link inside Gmail, it opens up a Safari browser version of YouTube or Google Maps rather than opening the app directly.

Google has finally fixed that big annoyance by adding link support to Gmail for YouTube, Google Maps,  [Read More...]

Now that’s pretty. Apple just posted a HD video of its new, poignant TV ad, “Photos Every Day,” on its YouTube Channel.

In the ad, a beautiful solo piano piece plays over images of people backpacking, skate boarding, running, window shopping, beach combing, travelling, and in the rain taking pictures of cityscapes, concert, crowds, dessert, dinner, gymnastics, goofing off, landscapes, jellyfish, and tourists in cars, in houses, out in nature, and from above and under beds. It ends with  [Read More...]

If you love Woz (and who doesn’t?) we’ve got an extra special Friday treat for you.

Vince Patton emailed us, linking us to an incredible YouTube account filled with vintage videos of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak talking to the Denver Apple Pi computer club back in 1984, in which Woz talks about being put on probation for computer abuse, hacking a video-on-demand box for free movies at  [Read More...]

The #1 rule about owning an iPad: don’t use it to take pictures or videos in public. I don’t care if you’re freaking Spike Lee. You’re going to look silly.

Google doesn’t care about none of that though. They’ve just released YouTube Capture for iPad, so you can shoot videos with your giant iPad and upload them straight to YouTube.

YouTube Capture made its debut on the iPhone last December, but  [Read More...]

YouTube-iPad Google is preparing to take on companies like Spotify and Rdio with a new YouTube music streaming service, according to sources in the record industry, who have been speaking to Fortune. The service, which is expected to launch later this year, could be available for free, but there will be subscription options for those who don’t like to see advertisements.

When asked for comment on the service, YouTube said:

While we don’t  [Read More...]

Send to TV_iPhone

Google has a released a pretty big update for its YouTube iOS app that adds a “send to TV” option. The feature was added to Android last year.

This is basically Google’s version of AirPlay. It’s an open protocol that’s in Google TV, Xbox, PS3, and some new HDTV sets. Once you’ve paired with the device, the YouTube iOS app becomes a remote for discovering and playing back videos on the  [Read More...]
